ICES and UK sign a Memorandum of Understanding
ICES has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of the United Kingdom (UK). With this, ICES will provide the UK with scientific information and advice relating to the North Atlantic and its adjacent seas. The agreement includes annual advice on fishing opportunities, as well as information on the state of marine ecosystems and the impacts of human activities. The UK may also request ICES advice on an ad hoc basis.

The UK has a long-running history with ICES: In 1902, the UK were one of the organization's founding member, before formally becoming a contracting party in 1964.

The MoU took effect as of 1 January 2021 and will be reviewed and possibly revised every third year.
