CATCH

Coastal angling tourism offers a unique development chance for the South Baltic Region, especially for less developed coastal regions and even outside the holiday season. It is a new touristic trend and offers diversification of coastal tourism with promising market opportunities. For example, in 2006 in Germany there were about 163.000 coastal anglers with an average expenditure of almost 1000 €.  Supplementary there are additional expenses for accommodation, gastronomic facilities and other services. Nevertheless, angling tourism is still a niche market based on very local initiatives and angler-to-angler-communication.

In this regard, the project  CATCH (Coastal Angling Tourism – a development chance for the South Baltic Region) will analyze the supply and demand structures of coastal angling tourism at the Baltic Sea, identify examples of successful angling tourism concepts and combine them with future development goals. On this basis, together with coastal stakeholders concepts for sustainable coastal angling tourism will be developed, while taking into account social, economic and ecological aspects. Information on relevant products, angling spots and stakeholders are bundled and marketed on an online platform.
